On Day 4 of the CommonWealth Head of Goverment Meeting, Buckingham Palace played setting for The Formal Opening took place in the Ballroom in Buckingham Palace.

The Duchess was in attendance.

Speeches were given from The Prince of Wales, The Prime Minister Theresa May,  the Commonwealth Secretary General Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC and Head of the Commonwealth, Her Majesty The Queen.


Buckingham Palace once again provided the setting for a formal dinner to welcome Commonwealth leaders to London hosted by Her Majesty being the host.

Which was also attended by HRH The Prince of Wales and other members of the Royal Family including The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of Cambridge, Prince Harry, The Duke of York and his Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexander of Kent.

It was announced on Friday, that the Prince of Wales will be succeeding Her Majesty as Head of the CommonWealth when she passes away. This means will be seeing the Duchess involved in representing The Prince when he becomes King.

Yesterday was CommonWealth Day, an annual opportunity to celebrate together the links amongst the 53 communities across the world. This day starts its celebrations with a church service at the Westminister Chapel in the presence of the Head of the CommonWealth and after a reception at Marlborough House.

This year's theme is  'Towards a Common Future' which emphasizes how the Commonwealth can address global challenges and work to create a better future for all citizens through sub-themes of sustainability, safety, prosperity and fairness.

Her Majesty as Head of the Commonwealth led the celebrations. The service is the largest annual inter-faith gathering in the UK and from around the Commonwealth come together to celebrate the day.

The Queen's work as Head of the Commonwealth is supported by other members of the Royal Family, who attend the service in addition to their own work around the Commonwealth through Commonwealth visits and charities.

Members of the Royal Family who attended this year were: Their Royal Highnesses Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Henry and his fiance Ms Meghan Markle, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew Duke of York, Princess Alexandra, Birgitte Duchess of Gloucester and Sophie Countess of Wessex. Both the Countess and Duchess's respective spouses Prince Edward Earl of Wessex and Prince Richard Duke of Gloucester were not present the Duke was celebrating in Malawi.

The church service was led by the Dean of Westminster, the service encompasses traditional hymns and readings, with performances from artists around the Commonwealth and thought-provoking speeches from community leaders.

The London Maori Choir performed at the reception, which was held at the home of the Commonwealth Secretariat. 

Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II R hosted His Royal Highness Prince Karim The Aga Khan IV on March 8th for a private dinner at Windsor Castle. The dinner was in celebration of The Aga Khan's Diamond Jubilee of the his leadership as Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslim Community.

Members of the British Royal Family who attended were Their Royal Highnesses: Prince Charles Prince of Wales, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy and Prince Andrew Duke of York. Also present as well were members of the Aga Khan Royal Family: Princess Zahra Aga Khan, Princess Salwa Aga Khan(formely Kendra Spears)
