For a new day of events, Her Royal Highness attended the Women's Forum closing session roundtable meeting.

The Duchess of Cornwall is attending a roundtable meeting and the closing session of the #CHOGM2018 Women's Forum.

The Forum set out to reflect on some of the global challenges still faced by women across the Commonwealth. The discussion topic during Her Royal Highness’s roundtable was ‘An improved response to domestic abuse by employers.’

During a speech today HRH said:

“Domestic abuse remains a hidden problem in society. It is characterised by silence.

Since 2009, The Duchess has been dedicating her work to raising awareness of the issues facing those affected by sexual violence and domestic abuse.

During a speech today HRH said:

In her speech at the closing session, she said:

"Now some of you in this room know, only too well, the terrible impact of domestic abuse.  Some of you are already working tirelessly to try to eradicate it from society.  I very much hope that all of you will find a chance to make significant connections today and find new ways to bring this problem out into the open – so that together we can make sure that the voices of those who are living with abuse today, wherever they live, are not silenced, but clearly heard."

Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are attending in London as part of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) events. They began attending yesterday.

Every 2 years, Heads of States reunite in London for the CommonWealth Heads of Government Meeting where they discuss their common goals and to share ideas. Members of the Royal Family are hosting and attending a number of events over the week.

Their Royal Highnesses joined the events by attending a Commonwealth Big Lunch, an event that aims to bring people together to celebrate their Commonwealth connections through food.

The initiative encourages communities to have lunch together in a simple act of friendship and fun. Last month The Duchess visited a Big Lunch event hosted at Barn Croft Primary School. The Duchess of Patron of The Big Lunch and has attended a number of events in support of the initiative.

Earlier Today(Aussie Time), Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Australia to represent Her Majesty the Queen during the at the opening of the XXI Commonwealth Games, reading out Her Majesty's customary message, which calls on athletes to come together in the spirit of friendly competition and a few days of engagements on tour of the country down-under

According to Australia TV Channel 9 news, Their Royal Highnesses arrived a couple of days ago and spent a few days in a secret location in regional New South Wales. According to the media house, they were seen boarding their private jet in the central NSW town of Wagga Wagga on Wednesday morning destination Queensland after spending time with friends on a farm

They arrived in Brisbane, Queensland where they were officially received and welcome by Her Majesty's official representative in Australia Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove at the old government house. After signing the visitor's book, They proceeded to the lawn, where His Royal Highness inspected the Guard of Honour.

After Their Royal Highnesses met with members of the public who brace the rainy day and waited in the city's botanic gardens.

After meeting the public Their Royal Highness then visited the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital to learn about Juiced TV which is a TV show made by children, for other youngsters in the hospital. The aim of the show is to benefit their health and well-being while in hospital.  They also met with Abi Head, a 13 -year-old Juiced TV star and founder of Juiced TV and Philippa Russell, who founded the TV station and is the 2018 Queensland Australian of the Year Award winner.

They also visited a tour of the athletes' village as well as other major tourist destinations including the Great Barrier Reef and Bundaberg's rum distiller

Commonwealth Pre games reception:
Their Royal Highness attended a pre- opening reception hosted by the Governor-General Sir Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove. They met and spoke with various official representatives of Commonwealth nations as well as Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate (L) and Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk

They also met with Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u of the Kingdom of Tonga.

Opening Ceremony:

They later arrived at the Carrara Stadium ready for the official opening of the Commonwealth Games 2018 were The Prince of Wales will officially open the games on behalf of the Head of the Commonwealth Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth.

Before the opening ceremony, Their Royal Highnesses were invited on stage together with  President of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Louise Martin, CBE and the chairman of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games organising committee, Peter Beattie

Her Royal Highness doned powder blue dress with an embellished bodice by Anna Valentine, her trademark string of pearls, with a beige leather Fendi Regular Peekaboo, suede pumps and a white scarf to ward off the evening chill





Their Royal Highnesses will visit Brisbane & the Gold Coast together; before His Royal Highness continues his visit to Queensland and the Northern Territory, concluding on Tuesday 10th April.

Last week Clarence House, released a recently recorded video message done by The Duchess introducing three animations which aim to raise awareness of coercive and controlling behaviour so that more people understand that this is domestic abuse and a criminal offence.


In a video recorded at Clarence House, The Duchess of Cornwall says: "Thankfully the sometimes disastrous effects of domestic abuse in society are now much better understood. Much less understood is the psychological abuse which exists in some relationships. I'm delighted that Dorset Police and Bournemouth University are working together to make this short film and that it will, over time, help to raise public awareness of some of the complex characteristics that make up controlling and coercive behaviour which is now, thank goodness, a crime."

The Countess of Chester received last week March 16th an Honorary Doctorate for her work in literacy.

The Duchess of Cornwall known as the Countess of Chester in the City of Chester was honoured by the University of Chester during their Graduation Ceremony today and was awarded in recognition of her commitment to promoting literacy.

"As you leave today’s degree ceremony, you should do so with your heads held high, justly proud of all you have achieved."

Hosted in the historic Chester Cathedral, she received her Doctorate of Letters in front of 500 graduates from a number of academic faculties.

The Countess who is a strong promoter of literacy in the UK and internationally, with particular focus on encouraging a love of reading and writing from an early age.

As we all know The Countess is an avid reader and undertakes a number of engagements to promote the importance of supporting literacy, including the 500 Words Competition, an initiative which encourages children around the country to get creative and send in their stories of no more than 500 words, and the Man Booker Prize for Fiction.

According to Clarence House, The Countess said during a speech:  “I want to begin by thanking you, Chancellor, for the Honorary Doctorate that you have just bestowed upon me. I am grateful, too, for the Public Orator’s generous words and for the wonderfully warm welcome I have received today.

“As Countess of Chester, I take great pride in my relationship with both this beautiful city and now with your University.”
