Commonwealth Games 2018 & Australian Tour #GC2018 #RoyalVisitAustralia

Earlier Today(Aussie Time), Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Australia to represent Her Majesty the Queen during the at the opening of the XXI Commonwealth Games, reading out Her Majesty's customary message, which calls on athletes to come together in the spirit of friendly competition and a few days of engagements on tour of the country down-under

According to Australia TV Channel 9 news, Their Royal Highnesses arrived a couple of days ago and spent a few days in a secret location in regional New South Wales. According to the media house, they were seen boarding their private jet in the central NSW town of Wagga Wagga on Wednesday morning destination Queensland after spending time with friends on a farm

They arrived in Brisbane, Queensland where they were officially received and welcome by Her Majesty's official representative in Australia Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove at the old government house. After signing the visitor's book, They proceeded to the lawn, where His Royal Highness inspected the Guard of Honour.


After Their Royal Highnesses met with members of the public who brace the rainy day and waited in the city's botanic gardens.

After meeting the public Their Royal Highness then visited the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital to learn about Juiced TV which is a TV show made by children, for other youngsters in the hospital. The aim of the show is to benefit their health and well-being while in hospital.  They also met with Abi Head, a 13 -year-old Juiced TV star and founder of Juiced TV and Philippa Russell, who founded the TV station and is the 2018 Queensland Australian of the Year Award winner.

 They then saw a music therapy and dance session, and then took part in baking during one of the Juiced TV shows.


They also visited a tour of the athletes' village as well as other major tourist destinations including the Great Barrier Reef and Bundaberg's rum distiller

For this leg of the visit Her Royal Highness wore a green lace Fiona Clare dress and a matching Philip Treacy hat

Commonwealth Pre games reception:
Their Royal Highness attended a pre- opening reception hosted by the Governor-General Sir Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove. They met and spoke with various official representatives of Commonwealth nations as well as Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate (L) and Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk

They also met with Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u of the Kingdom of Tonga.



Opening Ceremony:

They later arrived at the Carrara Stadium ready for the official opening of the Commonwealth Games 2018 were The Prince of Wales will officially open the games on behalf of the Head of the Commonwealth Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth.

Before the opening ceremony, Their Royal Highnesses were invited on stage together with  President of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Louise Martin, CBE and the chairman of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games organising committee, Peter Beattie

Her Royal Highness doned powder blue dress with an embellished bodice by Anna Valentine, her trademark string of pearls, with a beige leather Fendi Regular Peekaboo, suede pumps and a white scarf to ward off the evening chill





Their Royal Highnesses will visit Brisbane & the Gold Coast together; before His Royal Highness continues his visit to Queensland and the Northern Territory, concluding on Tuesday 10th April.
